About Our Mental Health Education

​NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, 8-session educational program for for individuals with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. This class is taught by peers with lived experience and includes videos and discussion.
​
NAMI Peer-to-Peer helps you:

Set a vision and goals for the future

Partner with health care providers

Develop confidence for making decisions

Practice relaxation and stress reduction tools

Share your story

Strengthen relationships

Learn about mental health treatment options

As with all NAMI programs, Peer-to-Peer does not include recommendations for treatment approaches.
Participants who attend at least 6 sessions will receive a certificate of completion from NAMI.

​NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidence-based program. This means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition.

In the program, you’ll learn about:

Taking care of yourself and managing stress

Supporting your loved one with compassion

Finding and using local supports + services

Up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain

How to handle a crisis

Current treatments and therapies

The impact of mental health conditions on the entire family
Participants who attend at least 6 sessions will receive a certificate of completion from NAMI.​

​NAMI Basics is a free, 6-session course educational program for parents, caregivers, and other family members who support youth living with a mental health condition.
With support and shared understanding, NAMI Basics helps family members learn that recovery is a journey, and there is hope.

In the program, you’ll learn about:

​The impact mental health conditions can have on your entire family

Different types of mental health care professionals, available treatment options and therapies

An overview of the public mental health care, school and juvenile justice systems, and resources to help you navigate these systems

How to advocate for your child’s rights at school and in health care settings
-
How to prepare for and respond to crisis situations (self-harm, suicide attempts, etc.)

​NAMI Hearts+Minds is a free, 5-session wellness program designed to educate and empower you to better manage your health — mentally and physically.​ The best possible mental health recovery requires attention to all aspects of your health.
​​You can improve your symptoms by learning about how your body systems interact, and by effectively managing both the physical effects of mental illness, and the lifestyle options that can help you feel better overall.

NAMI Provider is a free, evidence-based staff development program designed for healthcare professionals, administrative and operational staff, and students who work directly with individuals affected by mental illness.
With empathy and shared experience, NAMI Provider helps participants build stronger, more collaborative relationships with those they serve.
In the program, you’ll learn about:

The lived experience of individuals and families navigating mental health conditions

How recovery is possible and what it looks like through both the medical and recovery models

Effective communication and partnership strategies with individuals living with mental illness

The impact of stigma, trauma, and negative healthcare experiences—and how to help change the narrative

Insights from people with personal, family, and clinical perspectives on mental illness

How to foster a compassionate, person-centered approach in clinical and community care settings
NAMI Provider is led by a person living in recovery, a family member of someone with a mental health condition, and a mental health professional. The program is offered in two formats: a 15-hour course delivered over five sessions, or a four-hour seminar. Both formats are designed to create lasting impact through honest dialogue and practical learning.

Participants walk away with new skills, deeper understanding, and the confidence to support recovery in a more meaningful and respectful way.
