About Our Mental Health Presentations

NAMI In Our Own Voice is a free presentation that offers a powerful, personal perspective on mental health, led by individuals living with a mental health condition.

Through honest storytelling and open dialogue, NAMI In Our Own Voice helps challenge stigma, change perceptions, and build understanding.

In the presentation, you’ll learn about:

What it’s really like to live with a mental health condition, from people who’ve been there

The personal journey of recovery—what helped, what hurt, and what gives hope

How stereotypes and misconceptions about mental illness can be harmful—and how to dispel them

The importance of empathy, respect, and listening when supporting those with mental health challenges

How to get involved in the mental health movement and become an advocate for change

Presentations include time for audience questions and discussion.

NAMI Ending the Silence is a free, evidence-based presentation designed to teach middle and high school students about mental health, including how to recognize warning signs, how to seek help, and how to support others who may be struggling.
​
Led by trained presenters, including a young adult who shares their personal story of living with a mental health condition, this 50-minute session uses short videos, educational content, and honest storytelling to spark conversation and reduce stigma.

In this presentation, students will learn:

How to talk to an adult if they or a friend are struggling

The power of reaching out and knowing they’re not alone

How mental health impacts all of us—and why open dialogue matters
