NAMI On Campus (1).png

NAMI on Campus is a student-led mental health organization at OSU Mansfield and North Central State College that brings peer support, awareness, and education to college campuses. Open to all OSU and NCSC students, NAMI on Campus creates a supportive community for those living with mental health conditions, as well as allies who want to make a difference. We have monthly events, peer-led discussions, and awareness campaigns to reduce stigma and foster understanding.

By connecting with others in a safe, supportive environment, students gain tools to manage their mental health, support their peers, and advocate for change on campus. NAMI on Campus encourages open dialogue, mutual support, and a sense of belonging. It’s a space to be heard, to learn, and to grow—together.

NAMI on Campus will help you:

  • Build a supportive network of peers

  • Learn to recognize and respond to mental health challenges

  • Find your voice through advocacy and education

  • Reduce stigma through storytelling and community outreach

  • Access resources and tools for managing stress and wellness

  • Realize you are not alone—and never have to be

Campus Care Navigation

Campus Care Navigation is a student support program that helps college students connect with the healthcare, mental health, and community resources they need to support their well-being, stability, and academic success. The Campus Care Navigator provides personalized, one-on-one guidance to help students navigate challenges, overcome barriers, and access services both on and off campus. Support includes locating appropriate medical providers with Medicaid or private insurance networks, connecting students with mental health services and coordinating referrals for additional evaluations such as ADHD and Autism screenings, and assisting with access to public benefits through Job and Family Services. The program also helps students identify housing resources during both the academic year and academic breaks, as well as connect with food assistance and other essential community supports. Students can get started by completing our online referral form.

The Green Bandana Project is a suicide prevention and mental health awareness presentation facilitated at The Ohio State University at Mansfield and North Central State College. In collaboration with New Directions campus counselors, who support the session by leading a live role-play component, the presentation provides students with the opportunity to practice real-life supportive conversations in a safe and guided environment, with a strong focus on recognizing and responding to suicide risk and mental health crises. During the presentation, students learn how to identify warning signs that a peer may be struggling, how to respond with care, confidence, and without judgment, and how to connect individuals to appropriate suicide prevention and mental health resources available on campus and in the surrounding community. The presentation encourages students to engage in conversations about suicide in a supportive and responsible way, as well as explains the meaning and purpose of the green bandana. Following the presentation, students can pledge to receive a green bandana to display, typically on their backpacks, signaling that they are a safe and approachable point of connection for peers. The presentation emphasizes practical intervention skills, resource awareness, and peer support to help foster a campus culture where students feel more comfortable reaching out for help in moments of crisis.
